A Writer Within. Spend a week writing in Tuscany, Italy
Enjoy a Writers Retreat in Tuscany with Kathryn Kay
Deadline: May 18, 2019
A Writer Within offers you a week-long journey into the craft of writing in the tranquil and inspiring setting of Tuscany. Whether you are interested in memoir, fiction or non-fiction, you will tap into your creative flow as we consider plot, dialogue, characterization, imagery, and more. Kathryn Kay has a unique and effective teaching style that instills confidence and promotes growth. In this safe and nurturing environment you will find there is nothing between your words and the page except unlimited inspiration. This retreat welcomes women writers of all ages, genres, and levels of experience.
We will enjoy a luxurious week in the heart of Tuscany at the lovely Villa Castellare de Sernigi. The Corti family who has owned it since the early 1950’s has lovingly restored this centuries-old villa. Each of its nine bedrooms has an ensuite bathroom and every modern convenience.
Our private chef will delight us with regional specialties using locally sourced produce and wine, and can accommodate most dietary needs.
Our day will begin with an optional yoga or Tai Chi session before breakfast.
Mornings will be spent in a group writing session led by Kathryn.
Following lunch (al fresco if the weather permits), we will enjoy informal as well as guided tours of nearby towns, historic sights, and the surrounding countryside or enjoy personal writing/relaxation time.
Most evenings (if we are not out enjoying local entertainment and wine) we will gather informally to share our work and reflect on the day.
A private consultation with Kathryn is included and will be scheduled around activities.
Bio: Since 2001, Kathryn Kay has been offering writing workshops for women, private coaching, and editing services. Kathryn believes there is a writer within each of us, and has yet to have a student who wasn’t surprised by the writing they produced in her workshops.
Kathryn fell in love with Italy many years ago when she lived in Florence for 5 years while studying restoration. It’s where her daughter was born, where she set her novel, The Gilder, and where she returns every chance she gets.
Kathryn has an MFA in writing and believes that returning to school as an adult is one of the best things she’s ever done.
