SOMOS, RIVERS & BIRDS AND AMIGOS BRAVOS PRESENT
PHILIP CONNORS Reading at the Harwood Museum on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 4 pm
Philip Connors (author of award-winning Fire Season) will read from his 3rd book, A Song for the River, an elegy for the Gila River Wilderness area and its people, flora and fauna in Southwest New Mexico. A forest service employee serving as a fire lookout ranger for years, Connors pays tribute to the people he has worked with and lost and the first Wilderness land that Aldo Leopold preserved in 1924. Connor’s writing style is filled with poetic imagery, poignant scenes, and inspiring thoughts about the importance of conserving “wild” lands that are only accessible by foot.
