"Poetry in Public Places"
During April, 2018
“Poetry in Public Places,” is a poetry installation project that also begins on April 1. It is a collaboration between SOMOS and the Taos Arts Council. This installation project displays poems written by more than 25 Taos poets at local coffee shops, Town of Taos facilities and other public places around town through the month of April. Look for poems at Taos Cow, KOKO, Coffee Spot, Elevation, Coffee Cats, Gutiz, Manzanita Market, Taos Visitors Center, Taos Town Hall, Taos Youth & Family Center and Taos Community Auditorium. As part of this project the Taos Public Library will display poems by Langston Hughes illustrated by fourth grade students of Taos Integrated School of the Arts (TISA).
“The ‘Poetry in Public Places’ project gives people a chance to interact with poetry as a written art form,” says Kramer. “It offers a quiet, personal connection.”
